What I’ve learned is that mindset is everything! Mindset is the way you think about things; your priorities in life, your approach to dealing with people, ideas, situations. Are you positive and moving forward or negative and holding yourself back?
What do you want to change? Finances? Relationships? Quit smoking? Weight loss? In order to change something on a physical level, we need to start by changing it on a mental level. We need to really have faith in ourselves and believe that our goals will become a reality.
Here are 4 ways to change or strengthen your mindset and be that much closer to reaching your goals.
1. Create a Vision Board – Use a computer page, poster or cork board to post pictures of your vision. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and to dream big! Its your imagination so nothing is out of reach. Keep your vision board in a place where you can view it from time to time as a motivator.
2. Affirmations – It has been my experience that when we repeatedly tell a person that something is true they will start to believe it. By saying, or even posting, positive phrases where we can be reminded daily, we can influence our mindset. Use positive language – for example:
Negative - I am no longer fat.
Positive - I am fit and healthy.
Negative - I quit my boring job.
Positive - I am happy and successful at my new job.
Negative - I am in charge of my feelings and nobody is going to stand in my way.
Positive - I am in charge of my feelings and can overcome any obstacle.
3. Get Inspired – Read inspiring books or websites. Listen to motivational speakers like Tony Robbins or Rod Hairston. Think of some of the role models in the area you are looking to change and see what advice they have to offer.
4. Check Yourself – Sometimes we need to take a hard look at our current beliefs or habits. Are they beneficial to moving forward? Are they uplifting? Are they holding us back from reaching our goals?
Change your attitude. Change your life.
